Who had the strongest bite of all time?
Saltwater crocodiles certainly lay claim to having the strongest bite force known today. But if we’re looking for the strongest jaws in history we need to cast our net a little wider. Certainly the largest crocodile of all time, the enormous sarcosuchus imperator would have had an bite strong enough to shatter the bones of equally enormous dinosaurs.Share
And then, of course, there was the T-Rex.
Scientists believe both these two would have ‘blown away’ figuratively speaking by the strength exhibited by the Megalodon, a giant prehistoric shark dubbed Big Tooth. According to scientists, this 50-foot monster had the most powerful bite of any creature that lived with a bite force estimated in the region of 18 tonnes – enough to crush a small car. Indeed they estimated its bite was some ten times stronger than a great white shark and five times more powerful than a T Rex. And if it was about to bite you, the last thing you would have seen were its heart shaped serrated teeth that were over half a foot long. No wonder Megalodon means ‘big tooth’ in Greek!
